Before and After School Child Care

The mission of Before and After School Child Care (BASCC) is to provide students enrolled in Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) with:

  • an inclusive child care program in a safe and nurturing environment
  • a culturally enriching program that promotes the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child
  • a program that meets the highest quality of childcare standards

Below are the child care programs offered at our school:

Before and After Care

Program Overview

YMCA South Florida, Sunshine After School Child Care, and Firewall Centers, Private Providers Approved by the School Board 

Program Descriptions:

YMCA South Florida:  Before and after the school bell rings, children in our on-site program are given a safe environment to boost academic skills and develop healthy habits that will carry them throughout their lives, all under the guidance of caring adults. 

Firewall Centers:  In middle school after-school programs, students receive daily tutoring, particularly focused on Math and Language Arts. Moreover, character development is emphasized through Firewall’s specialized curriculum, integrating social-emotional strategies, life skills, and education on drug/alcohol prevention via TOP (Teen Outreach Program). 


Activities and Services Offered:

  • YMCA South Florida:  Experienced, CPR & First Aid Certified Professionals • Arts and Crafts • Cultural Arts• Small Ratio • Hands on STEAM based Curriculum (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) • PATHS Social Skills Curriculum • YFit physical fitness and sports activities •Homework assistance 
  • Firewall Centers:Tutoring, Mentoring, Social-Emotional Learning, Cultural Arts, Physical Education, Project-Based Learning, Nutrition
